Today I had to tell my kids that my parents dog died. What is the right way to tell a 3 & 4 year old that? I could have lied and said that the dog ran away or it went to help the firemen but I thought I would tell them the truth.
I sat them down and told them that Cubbie was old and wasn't feeling very good. I then said that grandma & paps took Cubbie to the doggie dr. and at the dr.s office Cubbie died. They started crying instantly. I had to tell them that Cubbie is now in heaven playing with firemen. Lucas couldn't breathe because he was so upset. He even made a song for Cubbie -
Oh Cubbie dog oh Cubbie dog - you are the best dog ever! oh Cubbie dog oh Cubbie dog - we will miss you forever!

Ten minutes of my kids sobbing had me a mess. I remember the day Cubbie walked into my life.
So sorry guys...ver sad to lose a pet. David and Aklyssa remember Cubbie from our visit and why that was his name...you are all in our thoughts. xoxo <3 Love yas, Angie, David and Alyssa
