4th of July

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday!  Cookouts, beautiful weather, swimming & fireworks!  How could you not love the 4th?

Our 4th started off early with going to the parade.  Every year we've gone the LaPorte parade.  The kids love the fly over by some pretty cool planes!  It's always so crowded.  We don't have someone in LaPorte to save us a seat a day or 2 before so we always get smashed in the back of people and my kids are miserable.  Why did we keep going there?  No idea!  This year we went to the Portage parade.  I enjoyed it but had some major issues with it! 

1.  During a parade you sit at the curb.  You do not stand in the middle of the road!  I saw one kid almost make a biker wreck!
2.  Throw candy to the curb so the kids don't run to the middle of the road. 

People are so rude!  We had a great front curb seat and people were standing in front of us.  WHO DOES THIS?

The parade was good.  The kids got tons of candy.  They were pumped when they saw Scooby in the parade!!

After the parade we went home!  My awesome family of 5 went on a 5 mile bike ride!  During our ride we saw some bullfrogs, turtles and goldfish!  At the end of the ride Addison (my athletic child) laid on the ground and said she was poofed out!  In the middle of the ride we had to stop at the park so the kids could play and take a little break!  I think I needed the break more than the kids!  Owen was in the child seat on my bike.  He is a BIG boy!!!

That night we went to the LaPorte firework show!  This was a first for us!  We normally do a pretty good show at home and don't go see public fireworks.  We got there around 7:30.  The kids were bored by 7:45!  They had all kinds of vendors (yummy fair food & pricey kid toys)!!  The smart and amazing mom that I am (  :-D ) brought my own glow sticks ($1.00 from Target for 10).  The kids loved that they had way more than everyone else and I loved that I only paid a dollar for them!  We saw Addison's 1st grade teacher.  Addison has been missing her big time so she loved seeing her!!  The fireworks finally started around 9:45!!  Next time I think I will show up at 9:30!!  Tons of space left and my kids can not sit that long!!!  Kyle and I wanted to punch some parents sitting next to us!  One dad was screaming and swearing at his kids.  Another parent was trying to sleep and got pissed every time her kids touched her.  A dad had his little kid do sparklers DIRECTLY behind us.  I was for sure that my hair was going to catch on fire!  Not sure how I got so lucky! 

After fireworks were over we rushed to our car.  We got there before most!!  It didn't matter though.  We sat in our car trying to reverse for 30 minutes!  Nobody would let us out.  Finally someone cut the rope in front of us and we pulled forward.  Because of this we were able to get out before all of those rude people who wouldn't let us out!  OH.. Addison gave some bracelets to some girls sitting next to us.  That mom was the only person who let us get in front of her to get out!  

 

All day I couldn't believe how rude people were.  I try to be nice to everyone and I teach my kids the same thing.  Some days I feel like I need to teach my kids to be little assholes so they can live in this crazy world! 

 

On Saturday we had a cookout at my father inlaws!  The kids were so excited to go swimming. They had some great water gun wars!

 

Fantastic week!!  Can't wait for next years 4th of July!!

Me, "no thanks, it will make me fat."

Review - Furby

Furby - Do not waste your money.  We have 3 of these.  I think we have went through 100+ batteries since Christmas with them.  I'm not joking.  You can't turn them off.  If you are on a 5 hour trip home from Ohio it will talk the entire ride!  :-)  Then when your son wakes up the next morning his Furby is dead...again.  Every time we have to change batteries we have to reset the Furby.  I'm not sure if we are doing something wrong or not.  It loses everything that was saved.  OH... another fun one.  My kids want me to look online to see what their Furby is saying.  Doo or ee-kay!  It doesn't shut up!  ugh...  It also sings songs that get stuck in your head.  I find myself out shopping singing the songs!  At night it's kinda freaky when you hear something moving or talking in your kids room too.  One night I walked in the boys room to take their Furby out of the room and it had evil eyes!  Creepy!!

 

Lucas is my only kid who LOVES his Furby!!  My other two have forgot about them!  Lucas loves watching his Furby dance!  He cracks up over it!!

I just looked online at Target for Furbys.  I'm kinda furious!  I spent $50.00 for each Furby and you can buy some now for $18.00!!  Stupid Christmas shopping prices!!  I still do not think it's worth it for $18.00!!

My daughter, the shopaholic!

Have I mentioned that my daughter loves to shop?  Well, she does!!  Everything is so beautiful and would be perfect in our house according to her.  I try to not take her shopping with me anymore because the two of us together is trouble! 

Well, shopping from TV seems amazing to Addison. She LOVES infomercials and gets mad at me when I fast forward through them.  Good thing she has never seen a shopping channel!!!

Owen has even started watching them.  He always tells me that we have to go to the dot com to order Dream Lites!

Kyle is an AMAZING father... but..... :-)

Kyle is an amazing dad!  The kids adore him!  Most of the time he is the "fun" parent!  He is not the one to push them to do chores, read or bathe!  He wrestles, tickles, plays legos or tag!  I like to think that when I'm gone he is not just the "fun" parent but who knows!! 

Last night I went out on a much needed girls night!  Amazing dinner and some fun shopping!!  I was able to relax and not worry about my kids, this rarely happens!! 

Great night out with some lovely ladies!

As I was walking in from my fun night out I almost tripped on my sidewalk.  Water bottles, hand soap (2 of my favorite Bath & Body Works) and mouthwash.... what?  Why was that on the sidewalk??    As I was getting ready to open the door Kyle opened it and walked outside!  I laughed and asked what that stuff was doing outside!  He said that the kids were doing experiments! 
After going inside and unwinding a bit I asked Kyle about the experiments again!  Here's what he said! 

Kyle, "I walked in the bathroom and saw the kids doing experiments.  I told them not to make a mess.  Then we went outside to do smoke bombs.  After we did those the kids got their experiments and brought them outside.  Then they got the hose and watered the flowers, cracks in the sidewalk, cars and their bikes."
Me, "That's my nice soap and now their mouthwash is all gone."
Kyle, "I don't want to kill science for them.  They were watching the colors change"
Me, "Couldn't you give them food coloring and not my $5.00 soaps!"
Kyle, "The kids had fun doing science experiments for $15.00.  Not bad."
Me, "Our whole family can go to the beach for $5.00!!!!!!"
